I <3 Wedding Photos

After four months, I finally finished editing Eric and Yuki’s wedding photos.  I posted up my favourites onto my Flickr.  I still need to learn to work my flash properly too.  :(

Halloween

For the last many years I’ve been wanting a really cool Halloween costume. However, whenever I finally think of one, it’s either too late, impossible to make, or no one will get it. I actually envy guys because I think pop culture provides a lot of recognizable characters that tend to be male. Two of the animators I work with once dressed as the cops from the Beastie Boys’ Sabotage video.

Again, this year I thought I was bone dry with ideas. But last Thursday I finally thought of a character, though maybe not so well-known, that would be pretty sweet to go as. I’m going to keep it secret for now though and post some work-in-progress photos instead until the actual day. The costume part itself I’m having a seamstress make for me because I lack sewing skills. The add-on to the costume I am creating with PVC pipes. Most of the work is actually being done by my dad ’cause he works in a metal shop, so he has access to a lot of tools while I don’t. But I’m coming up with the design. :P

Super Mario and Princess Toadstool Stitches

This took me a good six months to actually get around to doing and completing from the original request date, lol. Someone at work who had bought my Link and Zelda stitches requested Mario and Princess ones to match. The lighting of these is pretty bad, I decided to try a single flash on a lightstand instead of using my lightbox set up.

Animating!

Attempting to do a little keyframe animation at work while I’m not busy… This is what I have after 2 days (obviously not fully productive days, haha…)

Fancy Pants

Last Saturday was a friend’s wedding.  A group of us, after the afternoon reception, booked a couple of hotel rooms, so I took this opportunity, while everyone was still dressed up, to take some photos.  I didn’t play around too much with lighting at all.  I used one flash that was bounced off the wall/ceiling to the right of the camera.  Overall, i was quite happy with the resulting images.

Lack of Updates

Unfortunately for the past month I’ve been pretty swamped at work so I haven’t had much time to do anything creative.  I did remember that I did a small Mario-based painting sometime last year.  Nothing fancy, but definitely geeky!

Foo Stitch!

I finally finished my Foo Fighters cross stitch!  Tomorrow night is their show and  I’m really hoping to find them before the show…  But I’m afraid that my chances are slim.

The Wilhelm Scream

At work, someone puts on a monthly art challenge. It’s usually a single topic and you get a month to create any form of art based on that topic. I haven’t entered any of them in the past, but Tuesday was a rather unproductive day as the network had some issues. So I took about half an hour at the end of the day and came up with a little animated gif for the topic of the “Wilhelm Scream.” I think I should’ve added an extra pose at the beginning as he’s entering the frame, and straightened out the final pose since it kinda makes him look like he wiggles during the fall.  I was also probably also feeling like the stick figure since the network problems made it retardedly slow to work on my PC.

Wednesday, the network was back up and I was more productive so I was happier. I also got to go snowboarding after work, which was pretty fun. I’d say I’m pretty average at boarding, I can carve alright, don’t fall as often, and if I’m well-rested, don’t require stopping every hundred meters down the hill. The only problem is I weigh very little so I don’t get as fast as most of the people I’ve been with go. But I think playing the catch-up game does help me become more comfortable with going fast and hopefully improves my boarding overall.

Portal – Weighted Companion Cube BFF Cross Stitch

For my second video game-themed cross stitch, I decided to go with a more recent popular game – Portal. I used 14-count Aida fabric which fits nicely into a 4×6 inch frame. This time, I decided to try out some self-stick mounting boards which were found in the cross stitch section of the craft store I went to. It worked out pretty well, I was able to peel the fabric off fairly easily to readjust. The frame required minor modifications so that I could fit the mounted stitch in along with the glass still.
