Great Success!
That there is Chris Shiflett, guitarist for the Foo Fighters. I managed to get his autograph and give him the cross stitch which he seemed impressed by and thanked me for. If you look closely at the photo above, you can see the frame in his hand! I wasn’t able to get a proper photo of him though ’cause two other kids immediately asked for his autograph after me. It was kinda funny ’cause he asked them where his gift was since I gave him something, lol!
I had waited about 5 hours prior to the show for these guys to show up. Call me crazy, but there were crazier crazies waiting around too. Their busses pulled in around 3:30pm and I saw Dave go straight into the building. Taylor came out to sign stuff but he went the other direction from where I was. That was when I turned around and saw Chris standing off to the side with a smaller group of fans and I darted over.
The show itself was pure awesome. I wish I had floor seats but they didn’t seem to be available and/or sold out immediately when we bought the tickets. It was just constant energy, I already wish I was going to another show tonight.

Foo Stitch!
I finally finished my Foo Fighters cross stitch! Tomorrow night is their show and I’m really hoping to find them before the show… But I’m afraid that my chances are slim.

Japadogs!
Ahh, Vancouver, where east meets west so deliciously! On Saturday I was wandering around downtown and met up briefly with a co-worker at the Art Gallery to witness the annual pillow fight. I was pretty hungry by that time and my co-worker informed me of a hotdog vendor at Burrard and Smithe that sells “Japadogs.” What the heck is a Japadog? Well, it’s basically a hotdog with a Japanese twist! So I hurried myself over there and found the vendor, a kitty corner across the Scotiabank Theatre.

At the moment they have three different specialty dogs, but I think you can pretty much mix and match what you want. I tried out the Terimayo dog and was pleasantly surprised that the seaweed worked so well. I also have to recommend trying some of their wasabi mayo (it’s not that strong, so don’t worry about putting too much on), it definitely gives a nice kick to it. I found this place to be a nice change to the tasty smokie and totally worth a try. They even have a website!

I Heart Canucks
I brought my big camera with me to the game on Friday and got a good number of fairly decent photos. I wish I had a much longer lens for these things though. But then again, it’ll be a long time before I get seats this good again!
My focus of the photos was to get as many of Trevor Linden as I could as he probably doesn’t have too many seasons left in his NHL career (nor did he seem to have a lot of ice time during this game). He’s been with the Canucks since 1988, and just seems like an overall good guy. [Correction: He’s been with the Canucks for most of his career.]

Small World
For any Canadians out there, I was reminded of the song “I’m Afraid of Britney Spears” by the short-lived one-hit-wonder band LiveOnRelease (under Bif Naked’s label) because Joel found out that the ex-bassist for that band is actually a programmer here at work, lol.
Also, a few years ago, the ex-drummer from the not-so-short-lived and multi-hit Matthew Good Band was also working here for a couple years.

Work Perks & Beauty vs. The Geek
A few weeks ago, because of a bunch of Photoshop work I’d done for the team, I was offered some tickets to watch a Vancouver Giants game but already had plans for that night. Yesterday, I was given a pair of Canucks tickets! I haven’t been to a Canucks game for years now. And I think they’re pretty freaking sweet seats too!
I watched my first episode of Beauty and the Geek. I think it’s the second episode of the season, but it has peaked my interest. My producer and some others love these types of shows, and I can see why. It’s completely ridiculous and unecessary drama! And damn, we get to make fun of these people.
The girl who got kicked out tonight, Amber I think her name was, I thought should’ve stayed ’cause although she’s a bitch, she admits that she’s a bitch. The girl I wanted off the show was Cara, ’cause her voice was sooooo annoying. It’s like a 5 year old speaking. Which reminds me of a girl I know who gets child-like around her boyfriend… Then there was this one geek, who had a totally built upper torso. It was insane how much he must’ve worked out. Overcompensating for something I suppose. Perhaps I will tune in for subsequent episodes…

What Vancouver Means to Me
Someone at work posted up a link to a video contest that his friends entered to a video contest. The video is titled “What Vancouver Means to Me (By Josh)” and is clearly the best video in this batch of finalists. However, he is only in second place. Watch his video, then watch the first place video titled, “Come On.” There is no way that “Come On” should be number one. Please vote responsibly.
lol, I totally forgot to post the link. http://www.novusnow.ca/community/contest/
